The Personal Property Tax List at the Library of Virginia has the following members of the Fortune family in a "List of Free Negroes & Mulattoes" in 1813:
William Fortune 4 tithes
Armistead Fortune 3 tithes
Jane Fortune 1 tithe
Betty Fortune 1 tithe
(tax collectors mistakenly listed fpc women as tithables in 1813)
