Paul, I thought of you when I read the article from the NY Times’ DISUNION which focuses on the history of the Civil War. Author DANIEL J. SHARFSTEIN wrote an article entitled “BLACK OR WHITE?” which chronicles free people of color, the Gibson family of Virginia, to their new life as whites in Louisiana.
The article was intriguing and I remembered your research on the Gibson family.

The article and links to Tulane University mention that they knew very little about the early Gibson family in Virginia.

I couldn’t let this opportunity to inform the New York Times’ readers about your research.
