I've come across several instances where either someone with the last name of "King" has written an affidavit a "Lucas"; and instances of someone being referenced as "King (alias Lucas)". Any ideas as to how the Lucas and King families of Loudoun Co. VA were connected, and what would the alias mean?
For example, Anthony King was recorded in 1819 in Loudoun Co. VA with the notation “alias Lucas”; and the marriage records record Henry King (alias Lucas) married Barshaba (alias Barshaba Proctor).
I found a record where James King, "mulatto" was “…emancipated by D. King” (record location reference 1794-01, Loudoun Co. VA).
I am wondering if this James King could be the James Lucas of my family line.
