Re: Norman, Stevens, Lett and Payne in OH
In Response To: Re: Norman, Stevens, Lett and Payne in OH
() Thanks so much Art. I just started seriously researching this family. This is the family of my Uncle by marriage, Clarence Payne. He married my aunt, Hilda McKenzie. They lived in the coal patch of Thompson #2 in Luzerne Twp., Fayette County, PA. He was the grandson of Thomas Payne and Eleanor Norman. Clarence's parents were George Payne and Annie Thompkins. George may have been married 3 times or had children by 3 different women. I only have the name of 1 other wife and that was Georgia. Clarence had 1 full sister, Bessie who married Odis Gordon. His half siblings were: Howard, Moses, Magdelina, Randall and Charles. Enumerated in the 1910 census with the family were 2 Tyree children. I'm not sure who they belong to. They were born in 1902 and 1903. There was another child named Helen. I'm also not sure who her parents were. Clarence died in 1970 in his home. He and Hilda had 1 daughter, Deloris who married into the Mitchell family. Dolores died around 1996 from leukemia. She left 3 sons who live in the Chicago area. For some reason, I decided I was going to see what I could find on Clarence's family and send the information to his grandsons. I talked with my mom about the family yesterday and she told me what she could remember. Clarence and Hilda lived across the street from my grandmother so I spent a lot of time at their home.
