Hi folks!

I've spent the past 3 years tracing the Pettiford family that originated in NC. Last year, I worked on documenting all Pettifords in the NC census from 1790-1900 (still working on 1910-1930) and also for all other states from 1790-1860.

This year I am working on documenting all Pettiford marriages in NC. I just finished documenting all marriages from 1741-1868 that are recorded in the county marriage bonds (including Granville Co. which are in a separate index and not on Ancestry). Eventually I'll be adding all these to the Afrigeneas marriage database, but in the meantime if you need a lookup, let me know and I'll be happy to check.

For the rest of this year I will be trying to document marriages after 1868 and also those before 1868 that are announced in newspapers, Bible records, etc. as well as trying to find marriage info from other states (AL, GA, IA, IL, IN, KY, MI, MO, MS, NY, OH, PA, SC, VA - based on census information)

What I am doing now is trying to cross-reference married couples in the census with the marriage information I have. It is also helping me find the female Pettifords who married as well.
