William Crump - Crowley, LA
Hi, I'm looking for any information I can find on my Grandfather, William [Bill] Crump, and so far I've found very little. I know that he was born in New Iberia, LA in June 1875 [+/- 3 years], died in Crowley, LA 12/27/1965. He married Gertrude George 11/1913 at St. Teresa's Catholic Church, and they had 8 children, most of which moved to California [Mariam, Junius, Eloise, Susie Mae, JV, Vada, Raymond and Percy Lee]. Other than this, I have no further information. There is no oral history [he didn't speak of his parents or family other than to say he was from New Iberia]. I've found a 1880 census record listing a David and Louisa Crump with son named William Crump, but I can't find any further information here. He shows up next in the 1910 Census in Crowley. LA at 627 Third street, which was the family home. I'm interested in any suggestions/help in trying to find my information on him. He was a musician and played in a Mulatto band, but I don't know the name of the band or where they played. I am interested in any information regarding the band he was a member of [he was listed in census as a musician until 1930. 1930 census he lists himself as a carpenter] or how I can look up land documents online [I'm in california]. Any tips/suggestions/help would be greatly apprecaited. You can also email me directly at lady49r@me.com. Thanks |
