I am looking for specific information on the parents of Francis M. Burden, born June 14, 1837 and died in 1904 In New Paris, OH. Family bible states his parents were James and Elizabeth Burden. Francis is my second great-grandfather and his granddaughter was my grandmother, Mary Mildred Burden. I have connected family trees on Francis' wife's side, Susan E. Wright, but need info on the Burden side. Especially their connection with Longtown.

Good question. There is a connection between the "Preble, County, Ohio BURDENs" and the "Darke County, Ohio BURDENs" but the specific nature of that connection has not been established. Most likely they all descend from Sarrah TIMBERS, whose daughter, Prissilla TIMBERS married Thomas BURDEN. All, with one exception, of the Greenville Settlement BURDEN family descend from their (Prissilla & Thomas) son, Lewis BURDEN and his wife Mary "Polly" GOENS. Just how they connect to James and Elizabeth "Betsy" GOENS BURDEN of Preble County, Ohio is not known at this time. One thing for sure, the Preble County, Ohio BURDEN family married Greenville Settlement descendants and vice versa. Is your grandmother, Mary Mildred BURDEN, the Mary BURDEN SIMS, daughter of Hubert and Sally NELSON BURDEN?
