Re: Redman UGRR connections
In Response To: Re: Redman UGRR connections
() Hi Nicole, I am re-reading some of the the old threads here and picked up on what you wrote about Isaac Wolverton Redman's trunk. You wrote "Isaac Wolverton REDMAN had a trunk which he used much like a "hope chest" for saving things.
I heard about this trunk many years ago but at that time it was missing as well as its contents. Did you have the opportunity to transcribe documents or have you ever seen documents from Isaac's trunk that you are referring to? Or do you know who transcribed them? Has the trunk or any of its papers been found? I am just curious because it sounds as if a lot of original source material has been lost. I am very late in jumping into this thread but can you also tell me if Isaac Wolverton Redman's father Jesse Redman might be one of the Jesse Redmans found in the 1840 Scioto Township, Ross County, Ohio census OR Hopewell Township, Muskingum County, Ohio? I also see that on Isaac's death certificate that his mother's place of birth is listed as France which seems questionable. I keep thinking she might have been born in a town named Paris - like Paris Kentucky or Paris Pennslvania and someone took this to mean France. From personal experience with my Adams family I don't readily accept the infomation given on death certificates as being absolute. Thanks,
