Hello Robert, I'm not certain if I can be of any assistance. I found a distant cousin through a dna company and his last name is Goins. He's traced this line back to his seventh generation grandparents in the 1730's who lived in Henry County, Virginia and owned land in Patrick County, VA as well. His line migrated to Hancock County, Tennessee. The Goins line is Melungeon. He's written two books with them mentioned, one is called "Melungeon Footprints From the Past." You may already be familiar with him. His name is Jack Goins. I have not yet determined how we are related. I know his dna test confirm his paternal lineage is Bantu E1b1a8a.
