George Blount (Blunt) of Pasquotank Co. NC

Does anyone have information on a colored George Blount (Blunt) of Pasquotank County, North Carolina. George is my 6 times great-grandfather, he was born in 1795 in NC and had one known child (my 5 time great-grandfather Primus Young) with a slave woman named Fanny. The only information I have on him is 3 census records 1840-1860, he lived with two other free people of color in the 1840 census one male between 55 and 100 and one female between 55 and 100 (i'm guessing they are his parents) and all three are also listed as scholars. In the 1850 census he lives with 3 colored children (Nancy-female-6, Lemuel-male-4, and Isiah-male-1) I do not know their relationship to him. Lastly in the 1860 census he lives alone. I am interested in how he and his parents acquired there free status.
