Okra is best when not cooked to pieces. It can be sauteed lightly and quickly.
It can be steamed when greens or butter beans that have finished cooking, place whole okra on top of them in the pot for a few minutes until they are just cooked and crunchy. They are less slimy if steamed just until they are done, but not falling apart.
