A true southern classic!

Yield: 4 dozen
3 1/2 c. Flour (All Purpose)
1 1/2 c. Sugar
1 c. Vegetable Shortening
2 L. Eggs
2 t. Baking Powder
1 T. Vanilla Extract (pure)
2 T. Heavy Cream
Preheat Oven - 325F
Cream sugar and shortening with an electric mixer until light and fluffy.
Add eggs, one at a time , mixing egg completely after each addition
Add Baking Powder, vanilla extract, cream and flour.
Roll dough into one inch balls, set approximately one inch apart, and flatten with spatula or fingers.
Cook for 10 minutes or until golden brown on the edges.
NOTE: Vanilla extract can be substituted for lemon. Also, add 4 T. lemon zest. You can also add other flavors as well.
