Hi, I hear you.

I did not have to go to Grandma's house (actually I inly had one living). But, I do remember home as a child and all of the wonderful dishes - hot rolls, gumbo, chit'lings (would only eat them deep fried, at that time),oxtail stew, chicken and dumplings, sweet potatoes with marshmallows, fried pork chops, ambrosia, fried corn, okra and tomatoes, succotash, cornbread dressing.

Thanksgiving weekend, my uncles made fruitcakes which were soaked until Xmas to go with the homemade eggnog that was so thick and rich it was like eating ice cream. All of this stuff is considered unhealthy now, but it was too delicious then. I will not even mention the array of desserts.

This was good eating then, and every now and then, it is good to have these dishes again.
