Grapefruit pulp may help prevent osteoporosis
(Natural News) UPDATED 2008-11-25
Texas researchers say that eating the pulp of red grapefruit may help reduce the risk of osteoporosis. In an animal study, researchers castrated mice in order to decrease their levels of hormones—a factor which also increases osteoporosis risk. They found that after sixty days, the mice whose ordinary diet was supplemented with five or 10 percent red grapefruit pulp had a slow down in bone resorption, as well as more magnesium, bone calcium, and other bone minerals than the castrated mice who ate a normal diet.
