Is Chicken/Dumplins African Amer. Tradition?

I often remembered when I was a kid my mom, my aunt, and some of the other elderly women of that time often cooked chicken and dumplins. So far I do not remember other groups of people ever doing that. Yes, I do recall in some stories that some Chinese are into the dumpling thing, but I just wondered if it was just some sought of tradition by our own people.
