I had never heard of it, but located the following recipes online that you might attempt. They all look fairly simple:
Preparation : Boil tomatoes and sugar together for 15 minutes. Remove from heat. Add Jello and stir well. Put into blender. Blend well. Pour into jars and seal. Walt MM
Chop and cook tomatoes like you were going to stew them. Add Jello to cooked tomatoes while they are hot, stir until Jello is dissolved. Add 1 cup cold water. Put into jars and seal.

Ready in: 30-60 minutes
Crush tomatoes in blender. Take 2 cups pureed tomatoes and 2 cups sugar and cook for 10 minutes, stirring occasionally. Take off stove and add Jello.
Will be very thin. Let stand to cool, then refrigerate. Ready to eat when cold.

Mix sugar and tomatoes which have been cored and liquified in blender. Boil for 2 minutes. Add box of jello. Bring to boil again and boil two more minutes.
Put in jars. Either freeze or top with 1/8" of paraffin when cool.
