Re: Meals for Fall
In Response To: Meals for Fall ()
I loved eating sweet potatoes cooked anyway candiued, baked, mashed, fried, you name it. I still eat them these ways. Another favorite thing of mine in the fall would pinto beans, pork shoulder meat (baked or bar-b-qued), fresh turnip greens and a slice of my mother's pound cake or chocolate cake.
We always had meatloaf at least once every 2 weeks from scratch with smothered potaoes. There are so many differnt things I enjoyed. My parents and grandparents canned vegetables and fruits and had smoked their own meats.
Late fall to me meant killing a hog and cow. My grandparents would share with others who did not have as much as they did and relatives. My favorite from this would be fresh crackling and ham.
