Oh, it's the same recipe as for teacakes. My grandmother would put what she called "dops" of batter on a cookie sheet to produce large, soft cookies. We had no idea other folks called these teacakes. My gm Lucy Mary was born 1908 LA, ggm Maggie was born 1872 AL and gggm Jane was born about 1858 AL. The recipe was passed down from gggm Jane's unknown mother. So, tea cakes/bosom bread was cooked in at least one AL slaveholder's household during slavery by my ancestors.
