Re: New Year Eating
In Response To: Re: New Year Eating ()
Nina, I just loved reading about your traditions and making new traditions. I agree, sometimes it's good to introduce new things. Someone told me for Christmas, they were doing Mexican food. That's what they wanted after doing the traditional meal for Thanksgiving. My daughter requested my lasagne for Christmas but I didn't get around to it. I'll make it for her this weekend. Some people are changing their menus and taking away having so many fattening foods and replacing some with more health conscious foods.
It's interesting how there are certain dishes that are traditional for different families. One of my friends family has a broccoli casserole that is at every special meal. Tell me about your corn pudding. We had what I thought was a corn pudding baked in a casserole with milk, sugar, etc. but I have come to learn that corn pudding means different things to different people. One of my friend's mother used to make a corn pudding that was handed down from their North Carolina Lumbee Indian ancestors.
