Lecture examines African-American cemeteries, genealogy Feb. 12
The UAB African-American Studies Program will present a free, public lecture, "African-American Cemeteries as a Treasure House of Genealogical Studies: The Shadow Lawn Project," at 6:30 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 12 in the Hill University Center Boardroom.
Guest speaker Miquelle Fields-Jones will talk about the use of genealogy to uncover historical information about families, communities and historic sites, such as Shadow Lawn Memorial Gardens cemetery in Birmingham.
