I have done research into the history of a group of Black people living in a County in Georgia. This included interviews with many people that were in their 80's. I was surprised to learn that most said that they were part Native American or White. So I decided to try and determine how many Native Americans actually lived in the County between the Late 1700's and the early 1800's. I was surprised to learn that most Native Americans were forced from Georgia as early as the early 1800's, allowing settlement of Georgia. This can be found in a book, "The Trail Of Tears".

Then I asked, "Why did the oral history seem to differ from the facts?" I reached one conclusion, "We have all wanted to be anything else than Black." This was the same with people that wanted to be part White. Sad.
