Race is a biological categorization while ethnicity is a cultural categorization. In other words, Africans through out the diaspora are part of one race, but southern African-Americans and Jamaicans belong to two seperate ethnic groups. They have different customs, languages, and beliefs, but they are all racially Black. Another good example is the Indians and Pakistanis. They are biologically the same people, but the Pakistanis are Muslims while the Indians are Hindus with their own seperate cultures and governments, therefore they belong to seperate ethnic groups.
