Hi Chad,

I am new to DNA Research, and I feel that as descendents of Africans who came to the United States during the slave trade we can have different surnames and be related because families were often broken up when a slave owner died, sold slaves, and etc. This why I look at surname projects with a grain of salt because of the history of slavery. However, I don't understand; what is the difference between race and ethnicity? Aren't they the same?
