Yes, it's a great feeling! It's sort of hard to explain though. Back when I was in high school, I remember one of my history teachers going around the room asking us where our families/ancestors were from. The white students all were able to rattle off their answers: Italy, Germany, Russia, etc. I was one of two African American students in the class. I was so sad and embarrassed that I didn't know where my family came from that I made up an answer and rattled off some country in Africa. The other African American student just mentioned he was born in Japan (father was stationed overseas) but he didn't know where his family was from.
My oldest child is only five, but he got excited, especially when I showed him Cameroon on a map.
It would be great if one day we were able to correspond with someone who matches my DNA, but I'll take what I can!
