Re: DNA Testing (Scam or Not)
In Response To: Re: DNA Testing (Scam or Not) ()

Let me make this as simple as I can.

a. At some point in time someone had a specific DNA sequence.

b. That DNA mutated, and changed the DYS or STR of all their off spring.

c. This continued until we or you received our present DNA sequence.

d. One must understand that this was a logical process, and the previous sequencing was retained in everyone's DNA.

e. From this DNA sequence, when compared to others, one should be able to determine where and about when the mutation occurred.

f. This is how Haplogroups are determined.

g. If one follows this logic, then the process should be the same for a specific DYS or STR number, within a specific Haplogroup.

h. With me so far?

i. If this is the case, then why can companies provide FREE software for people to enter their DYS numbers to make this determination. They are most likely using such a program, and selling individuals the results (a little at a time for more dollars). Not to mention what may be done, for profit, with our DNA. Think this is not possible, read the disclaimer when providing DNA.

j. With what we are providing, the companies should be more supportive of our efforts, but it appears they are more interested in our dollars. I see no reason why one test cannot provide all the answers that one would want (disregarding what the companies are saying).

k. And, guess what, we are all falling for the companies' line.
