African American DNA Research Forum

Re: Article in UK Paper The Guardian

Hey there cuz,

Yes, I saw the article about the WEALTHY African Americans taking the tests, too. In fact that only true WEALTHY person I know who has been tested was Oprah as part of the PBS series, and I doubt that she even had to pay for it since she was being featured on the program.

Interestingly, there have been articles in the press where Oprah did claim to have been tested and "proven" to be ZULU, yet this was not the results on the program 2 weeks ago.

This is the article that refers to an earlier DNA test that she took:
http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/africa/4096706.stm

But back to the issue-----isn't it amazing how even the 1-4% is even being spoken in a dimissive manner when as you have stated---we had 0% knowledge of any specific African ties before the DNA tests were available. Indeed we can embrace the small percent that is given to us by DNA testing.

Unfortunately the emphasis on the wealth of those taking tests is somewhat odd, since I know I had to save up for the test myself.
