No, the mtDNA will not show a mixed heritage. Neither will the Y-chromosome. It will be 100% whatever the lineage turns out to be, but not 100% of your ancestry.
This is why persons taking the tests need to keep clear in their minds that the mtDNA test reflects only ONE tiny part of your heritage.
Yes, knowing one part is better than not knowing any, but this is the part of the DNA test story that I felt was neglected (or not emphasized enough) in the PBS documentary, African American Lives.
The participants got "Here's your result. You are X, or Y, or Z," without the caveat that "ONE of your many (thousands of?) ancestors was X, or Y, or Z" which means you are "part" X, Y, or Z.
