East Asian Ancestry
I recently received results from my AncestrybyDNA test and learned that I have 11% East Asian ancestry (60% African, 28% European, 1% Native American too). I was thinking the other day that perhaps this comes from my Malagasy ancestor who was enslaved and brought directly to America from Madagascar. He lived to be at least 90 years old (in Tennessee). It has been discovered that the DNA of most Malagasy people matches those of people from East Africa and Borneo.
The funny thing is that I was always teased as a kid about my eyes looking like those of people from Asia, but I never knew until this test that there was a perfectly good reason for that ... ha ha ha
Does anyone have a similiar high percentage and/or family history (Malagasy)? Does anyone have other insight into the high East Asian ancestry of some African-Americans? ... like Mae Jameson (13%).
Thanks ... - Lisa
