I'm surprised (yet not surprised if you know what I mean) that relatively the samples are so small in the Africa countries listed compared to the others.

I'm not sure I would define those 1 steps as strong. Numerous hits relative to the sample may make it strong, but having a hit there may not be the case. You are correct that this may be due to diaspora to the UK due to the relationship to the British Empire.

One view that I still have from earlier readubgs is that some in the UK are long descendants of African Ancestry. I know of the recent story, but I'm referring to more historical connections to the UK in areas like Ireland with an African king in the 300s and some believing the curly hair is a remnant. I digress... :)

I'm starting to research into Mali. It's interesting that it doesn't come up much yet it was of the main origins of transporting people as goods.
