African American DNA Research Forum
Which test is which?
I have been following the various discussions on DNA for some time, and was particularly thrilled when my Reed cousins (thanks to Cousin Mel) got the results from Dr. Kittles African Ancestry DNA Analysis.
I have a question, regarding the wide variety of tests, and what the benefits are in each of the various tests.
What I can determine is that, to learn specifically what part of Africa you may have a tie to, African Ancestry DNA under the direction of Dr. Kittles, seems most logical.
At the same time, I hear and read about other results that reflect percentages, which I believe is part of DNA Print.
There is also the migration pattern reflected in the National Genographic Project.
FTDNA (Family Tree)has some kind of tie the to National Genographic Project and I also see that Family Tree DNA is making an offer to African descended people as well. What is their offer and what does it reflect?
What specifically does the FTDNA offer to African Americans that would be different from Dr. Kittles DNA analysis at Howard?
And there other tests that also offer genetic match information, I suppose for persons to contact each other should they choose to.
Any particular guidelines?
Cousin Mel, will there be any additional testing by the Reed clan?
