Don’t know About DNA?

A different take?

For testing purpose, it is best to have the DNA of the oldest living male relative tested if possible. The Y chromosome goes way back into family lines, because although it mutates slightly, it does not mix during procreation like the female X chromosome does

Women have several options if they are researching families, though. They can have their mitochondria tested to find kinfolks in recent history and then use one of their links to male Y chromosomes, or women could find older male relatives and have them tested..
