Re: Grandson's Y DNA
In Response To: Re: Grandson's Y DNA ()
Hello Kathleen, I just reviewed my 23andme RF matches, and yes, we are estimated to be at the 4th to distant cousin range. Surprise, Surprise, Surprise!!! With your stated admixture percentages as 99.6 % Euro and my 52 % Euro our most recent common ancestor (MRCA) is most likely of Euro ethnic origins. My genealogical research of my Euro ancestry is virtually zero. My direct paternal grandfather was born in NC, enslaved ca 1852. He was the product of an inter-ethnic relationship proven via my Y-DNA haplogroup. I have no solid genealogical information on his paternity, or siblings. My maternal lineages have multiple inter-ethnic relationships dating back to the pre-1800 time period. All are at the 4th & 5th great-grandparent range that could include our MRCA and their descendants. My genealogical documentation on those maternal ancestors of European origin is very limited . I know the African Americans they married and/or mated with, but very little, if anything, of their parentage and/or sibling relationships. I have also done the FTDNA Family Finder (FF) testing and we are not matches according to my FF results. Have you done FTDNA FF testing? We can pursue the genealogical paper trail at your convenience. Warmest Regards,
