I see this a lot with "newbies". She is either making the conclusion that she is because:

1. The cousin and her father happen to share the same Y-dna haplogroup OR
2. Her father is the one tested and she is confused about the fact that the test is autosomal so there will be matches to BOTH paternal and maternal lines of her father.

Many new folks erroneously think that if a female is tested then all of the matches are on her maternal line and that if a male is tested, all of the matches are on his paternal line (which is not true for an autosomal dna test).

Is the surname a fairly common one? Does she say why she is insistent that the match is on the Y-line?
