African American DNA Research Forum
Could the results be wrong?
I scraped my fathers cheek and sent it off to Family Tree DNA. According to family lore my father's paternal line is Native American. I know my family in this line and they do consider them selves Native American, are registered members of a tribe. They have naming ceremonies. Once Pow Wow season is on, they are driving all over, to several states and participating in pow wows. One of my cousins is an Assistant for Commissioner for Indian Affairs.
Looking at my father's DNA Ancestral Origins results. His biggest percentage results was Singapore 12.5%, next was Haiti 5.6 (no problem here), then Ecuador 5.3, Venezuela 3.5, New Zealand 3.5 and the only African country listed is South Africa 0.7.
My question is could the company have mixed up my father's results? I am really thinking of redoing the test when there is a sale. If there is no mistake where, how does Singapore come in?
I was lucky a cousin (he thinks) contacted me he and my father was an exact 37 marker match. He told me that he thinks he and my father share a great 5 x's grandfather in common.
