Hello L3 Haplogroup,

My family and I have taken the mtDNA test through Family Finder and we are L3d Haplogroup. Our test says that our ancestors originated in West Africa. namely, Algeria, Camaroon, Gibon (Bantur), Sierra Leonne and Ethiopia. But we don't know what surnames to look for. The surnames that we have could be the surnames of the slave holder. Right now, we are looking at Hobbs and Mclamb on my mother's side.

I have e-mailed some of the matches who are from Barbados, Grenada and Mexico. Also one descendant lives in London, England, but was born in Barbados and some descendants live in the US.

So can someone tell what the difference between L3 and L3d?
