Aaron, it definitely is.

My point in posting is that paternal DNA, alone, is not enough to determine ethnicity. The Akhenaton/Amenhotep samples are haplogroub R1b. Like mine, they show a European-concentrated paternal lineage.

What is absent from the equation -- and what would settle the "what race are they?" question for good -- are my/their mother's and paternal grandmother's (or aunts') dna. Add those to the mix and you get the answer to that question -- for me, Tut and essentially all ancient Egyptians of that and earlier periods:

Black.

Curiously, mtDNA is never mentioned when it comes to Egyptian mummies. I wonder why? :)
