How far back is/are the Native American ancestor(s) thought to be? Remember that the percent is cut in half each generation you move forward from the 100% NA ancestor. For example: One 100% Native American parent + one 0% parent = 50% for you. One full-blood grandparent = 25% NA dna for you. If it's one full-blood NA great-grandparent (you have eight), you inherit 1/8 or 12.5% NA dna. If the one full-blood NA was your great-great-grandparent (you have 16), you would inherit 1/16 or 6.25% NA dna. But if that ancestor was not full-blood NA, your percentage is reduced even further, and may be too small to show up in the tests. Why not test your parents to see what their percentages are?
