Re: East Asian Ancestry

My niece's first son is lighter-skinned than either of his parents. When she showed pictures at work, the Asian people just assumed that his father was Asian and didn't believe her when she said that his father is African American. The Hispanics said he looked Hispanic.
I just recently got his Ydna result and it is Haplogroup R1b1 which is European. That was no surprise based on what some of his paternal family look like, especially his grandfather's generation.
Her second son (different father) has eyes which look even more Asian than the first son's, but since he is chocolate brown, no one notices that. His Ydna haplogroup was E3b1, and a match was found among the Tuareg in Mali which was intriguing.
I told my niece that these eyes must come from her father's side since _both_ children have the "Asian-looking" eyes, and it's not on "my" side of her family.... :-)
