Re: East Asian Ancestry

Ohhhhh, okay. I see what you're saying. Kids always picked on me as a child because my eyes were so slanted (no eyefold though) - they called me Chinese. At one point while reading your message, I was a bit excited to think that I might actually be part Chinese! LOL!
Tracing NA ancestry is a bit harder. I plan to get my mom's admixture done to see if I inherited it from her side or whether it was just "noise". A Catawba man(Keith Brown, the potter) saw my mom, her sister and me and asked us what tribe we were from. Initially, I thought that he was being funny until I saw he was standing there waiting for an answer. I answered an embarrassed "I don't know...".
Both sides of my family come from the Carolina backcountry were there were not but 2 or 3 resident tribes existing, according to history. Unfortunately, all of them are "extinct" and are said to have merged with the Lumbee and/or Catawba. I have a cousin from the same area (she has 6% EA ancestry) whose MtDNA is from haplogroup A. Another "black" lady was test from SC and her MtDNA haplogroup is B. So that for me provides some convincing evidence that there was some admixture with Black folks. Any tips?
