Re: Sorenson DNA Test
In Response To: Sorenson DNA Test ()
As per my earlier post (http://afrigeneas.com/forum-dna/index.cgi?read=320), I submitted a sample and pedigree. Later, my father, mother, and nephew each submitted samples, as well.
No, you don't receive individual results back. However, once one has their sample done via a commercial company and then is provided with results, they may then compare their results to the confidential results posted at the www.smgf.org website. There, one can look for matches and possible connection to other lines.
Though that is not the primary purpose of SMGF. Their goal is to, through genetics and presumed pedigrees, show that people--across presumed ethnic lines--are more similar and connected than dissimilar and disconnected.
Our family has yet to have the private commercial DNA testing done. At some point, the money will be there. Right now, it's just needed elsewhere. lol Eventually, however, we intend to have the testing done. Then, we will look for comparisons at a number of DNA result repositories, including SMGF.
