Now that I better understand the tests, I agree that L3 is from Ethiopia. However, the time period of "50,000 years ago" is what really bugged me. I wanted something more recent, like where are "my folks" right now?
The results from African Ancestry show that, through my paternal grandmother, we share ancestry with the current-day Mende and Temne people of Sierra Leone. That is the type of information I wanted. It also says to me that, though they are separate groups now, they, too, share a common ancestor.
