AncestrybyDNA and Questions
I sent off my father's test a few days ago to AncestrybyDNA. I chose to do the biogeographical admixture test first because my Dad is the last of his father's children and I wanted to detrermine the degree of European ancestry (his father was purportedly 1/2 white) and to confirm or preclude any Native American ancestry (oral history). Question 1: My GF had four families. All the lines are almost femaled out. Should I also test my uncle's son from another of the families to compare to my father's results? Should I expect any differences? Question 2: I am searching zealously for male descendants of the the overseer who I am hypothesizing fathered my GF. If not him, one of his four sons. I'm close, real close. Traced family to Texas 1900-1920s. Haven't found a male descendant of a male descendant yet but hoping. Now, if I should find one, and assuming he agrees to be tested, will this definitively confirm or exclude paternity? Question 3: Do you know of any company that tests hair? My mother's brother (the last male on that side of the family) died before I could do a test to determine amount of European and Asian ancestry. I have a hair sample. Question 4: Is the African ancestry test worthwhile? Almost everyone I've talked to is descended from the Bameleke. Is their sample large enough at this point? Thanks. B.J.
