Re: Haplogroup I

Arlene,

So far I do not know whether Silas has a sister or not. It took me years to find out he had a brother. That I found out through one of new cousin in TX. She found a WW I draft card for one of his brother, Benjamim's son, Ballard West. He had moved to Nash County, NC to work at a large Lumber Yard and put my g grandfather, Silas West from Dunn, NC down has his next of kin. I don't think he knew at the time that g grandpa Silas had died back in 1904.

So now I need to find out if he had a sister. If I am not mistaken in the 1850-1860 Slave Schedule, they were all males for whom the slave owner, Lloyd West owned. The only female was their mother in that family at that time. But I will definitely double check that out.

Thanks so much for enlightening me on the MTDNA.

Alice
