Thanks for all of the historical insights. After reading those posts, the results of the dna test probably shouldn't be much of a surprise.

An interesting update, I talked to my parents who said that my father's mother was from Wisconsin. My dad talked to her and her son, all of the evidence pointed to her, but she denied being his mother. His father was originally from North Carolina. He was harder to track down and they ultimately couldn't find him, but he had moved at some point to the south side of Chicago. At the time, my dad thought nothing of the location, but now he points out that its a predominantly African-American area.
