In Response To: Re: African Ancestry & Haplogroup ()
I ordered a Sorenson Kit and received it over the summer. I didn't submit it. When I first ordered it, they wanted a 4-generation pedigree. I assumed that since they were going to do my mtDNA it would be fine because I do have 4 known generations there.
When I received the kit, it was pretty clear that they wanted 4 generations back, male and female sides. I can't provide this because of unknown genitors (sperminators) as opposed to paters (who raised children as their own), both during and after the period of enslavement.
When I wrote Sorenson about this they said I could still submit the sample if my parents or grandparents were born in the 1800s. That doesn't work for me. I may circumvent their rules by submitting a sample for my mother whose grandparents were born in the 1800s. Anyone have a similar problem or success instead?
