Re: Contact With Persons Matching Your DNA Results
In Response To: Contact With Persons Matching Your DNA Results ()
No haven't received any responses. Of course, NO ONE matches me.
Think you're wise to wait for further tests. An mtDNA match on 12 markers with Hap H isn't very significant. H is the most common mtDNA haplogroup in Europe. Y Hap I is less common but can't tell anything from a 12 marker match with a different surname and no paper trail.
On Dad's Y test he had 11 matches at 8 markers, 3 at 12, and NONE when we expanded to 37 markers. Closest match is 23/25 with one other person. My understanding of this is that we are related but with an only 50(95)% probablility of MRCA being within 11(27) generations. WOW, huh? What's that, like 330-810 years? *sigh*
Dad is Y Hap I also, I1c, I think. Both my and Dad's mtDNA are one of the L's.
