My Father who was born in 1934 and adopted in 1940, was told by his adoptive parents that he had Native American Ancestry on his Mothers side. For years he was curious as to his ethnicity. What we found was that his MTDNA is L0a1 and he is African and European (haplogroup I1a). In my Fathers case he was excited and delighted to know at the age of 71 what he was. For approx the past two years I have been on the hunt to piece together his maternal lineage. His birth mom was born in Minden, La (Ruby Marshall). Personally, I think that the DNA tests have corrected years of untruth and in my families case embrace all of our ancestry. My mother happanes to be Ngbre haplogroup A (Panama) and European.
