Strange DNA Test Result
I recently, January 2005, had my Mitochondrial DNA tested by Trace Genetics. The results were that my DNA belongs to the Eurasian haplogroup T which is widespread throughout Europe and West Asia.
Now you have all seen me. I'm brown skinned and have curly hair. True, my mother was light skinned with straight hair as was her mother and my maternal great grandmother. So it is possible that my maternal line DNA has not a trace of haplogroup L from Africa, but I do find it a real stretch- a bit bizarre to say the least. All three women identified "colored" and were known as "colored" and married identifiably Black men.
My father and both my grandfathers were brown skinned. Unfortunatley I don't have a brother, father, uncles or grandfathers alive to check the Y chromosone line. I'll have to go with the genome-wide test. I'll let you know what it produces.
Has anyone else gotten this kind of "strange" result? Marcheta.
