I also thank you. When I initially read the comment made by Pam T. I also was going to respond. My personal situation involving my paternal 2nd greatgrandparents was, I don't believe, one of rape. 4 daughters were born to these parents and were all named in the will of their European father. This was in VA between the years, 1859-1863. According to oral family history it was common knowledge that he was the father of these children and he never disputed this fact. My mom tells a story of how when I was young one of my great aunts took us to the store of one of our European cousins who not only welcomed us in, but told us we could help ourselves to anything in the store. He also addressed my aunt as cousin.
