One of the benefits of joining the Genographic project first is that you can transfer your results 12-marker results to Family Tree DNA for free and join up to two of their surname projects. Then if you want to upgrade to 25 or more markers, you can do so.

Be aware that when you input your NGS results innto the various databases that you have to add the 389-1 value to the 389-2 value to report 389-2 the way all the other projects do.
